Members Information

The peaceful and tranquil setting of Hirsel Golf Club provides our members with the perfect location to escape from their busy lifestyles and spend quality time with friends and family. Competitive weekend and midweek fixtures are available all year round for men, women, seniors, and juniors. Our reduced Green Fees for guests are a great way to invite friends and family along for a game.

Member News

Hirsel Golf Club has an active Facebook page which is recommended for day-to-day news on what has been happening (or is about to happen!) in and around the Club. Additionally our Latest News website page is updated with relevant information on a weekly basis.

The Club’s primary means of regular written communication with members is via the BRS Golf emailing system. This includes seasonal Newsletters as well as information relating to upcoming events, competitions, catering, and course improvements.

Fees

Members are kindly reminded that fees for the forthcoming membership year (1st April – 31st March) are due for payment before 31st March (i.e. prior to commencement of the new membership year).

The fees include the relevant Scottish Golf and Borders Golf Association annual affiliation fees (currently £17.50).

All members may sign in up to 3 guests at any one time at the reduced green fee rate of £15 per guest. Juniors can be signed in for £7.50. Junior members may only sign in Junior guests.

Guest fees should be paid at the Pro Shop prior to commencing your round.

All over-18 members can hire our electric Buggies at a reduced rate of £15 per round.

Booking in advance is advised.

Club Competitions

The Club organises a schedule of competition fixtures for all playing sections of the membership throughout the golfing season.

Entry for all Gents and Ladies Club competitions can be made online using your BRS login or via the Start Sheets on the Clubhouse Notice Boards or by telephoning the Pro Shop on 01890 882156.

Please note – The Pro Shop, Match, Handicap and Competition Secretaries have the discretion to amend the draw and tee-times. They will however always aim to keep as close as possible to your chosen tee time.

Open Competitions should be booked through the BRS Open Competitions web page and cannot be booked through your BRS login.

Members may logon (and register) to How Did I Do from Club Systems International to access many online features related to Club competitions and handicap lists, including submitting competition scores and viewing competition results.

You can also now access How Did I Do as an App via your smartphone. To download the App, search for ‘ClubV1 Members Hub‘ on the relevant App stores. Please login using your existing How Did I Do details or register for an account if you haven’t already used How Did I Do. The email address you use to login must match what the Club has on record for you.

Championship competitions will be held in three classes for the Gents and in one single class for the Ladies.

               – Gents Championship (0-9)
               – “B” Championship (10-18)
               – “C” Championship (18+)

               – Ladies Championship

  • All Gents Championships will be the Top 8 Qualifying players
  • Any player wishing to try and qualify in a lower section may do so by notifying the Pro Shop before teeing off in Qualifier 1
  • Qualification for the Club Championship will take place over two qualifying rounds
    • In the event of either round being postponed or abandoned a second Sunday will be utilised.
    • If only one round is completed by the second Sunday, qualifying will be calculated on one round.
    • In the event of no rounds being completed by the second Sunday, one qualifying round will be played on the Wednesday of Championship week


The Gents A, B & C Finals and the Ladies Finals will be played over 36 holes.

Member Sections

Hirsel Golf Club is proud to have such friendly members. You are assured of a warm welcome and a friendly game. Each section hosts their own competitive and fun competitions throughout the year to keep your game sharp and enjoyable.
The Hirsel Ladies section offers a warm welcome to players of all abilities. A full programme of Club and Open competitions along with a variety of social events are planned throughout the year.

In the summer holidays a programme of 4, 8, 12 and 18 hole competitions is organised for Junior golfers. These run on Friday afternoons with sessions starting at 3 p.m.

Group coaching for Juniors will take place during the April, Summer and October school holidays.

Our active Seniors section usually plays throughout the year starting at 10 am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Occasionally these times may change slightly due to visiting societies etc., but times can always be checked on the BRS members booking platform. Throughout the season the Seniors section also has several Competitions including Home & Away inter-club matches where you are welcome to participate.

Watch out for notices and further information posted on the Seniors Notice Board in the Gents Locker room.

Reciprocal Golf Arrangements

Reciprocal playing arrangements with preferential rates have been negotiated with local Northumberland clubs including Goswick, Alnwick, Seahouses and Magdalene Fields.

Reduced rates are available at many courses across the Scottish Borders and the rest of Scotland (as members will have paid Scottish Golf and Border County affiliation fees).

Social Events

A varied programme of social events takes place throughout the year to welcome all members and guests to the Clubhouse to support the Club and enjoy some great entertainment.
